Sarah was born on October 25th, 1848 in Hooley Hill.¹

Sarah's father was Benjamin Buckley and her mother was Patience (Patricia) Oldham. Her paternal grandparents were John Buckley and Mary Crook; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Oldham and Sarah Hewitt. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Henry, Silas, Arthur, Martha, Mary, Emma, Ellen, Edith, Beattie and Sarah. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 1 on January 15th, 1850 in Hooley Hill. Her burial was on January 19th, 1850 in Audenshaw.²³
