Francis' father was James Holder Bowling and her mother was Maria Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, James, Timothy, James, Thomas, Hannah, Nanny, Ellen, Rachel and Sarah. She was the youngest of the eleven children. She died at 7 months old on April 10th, 1870 in Halliwell. Her burial was on April 10th, 1870 in Belmont.²¹
