Violet was born about 1916 in Nebraska.1  Violet's father was Joseph Reuben Shinaut and her mother was Viola Kennedy.  Her paternal grandparents were William Henry Shinaut and Susan Alice Hix; her maternal grandparents were John L Kennedy and Margaret Elizabeth Center. She had a brother named Ormand.  She was the younger of the two children.
