Henry Newton was born about 1834 in Monongalia County, West Virginia, USA.  Henry Newton's father was Jacob K. Straight and his mother was Permelia Shuman.  His paternal grandmother is Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents were Henry Shuman and Sarah Temple Kendall. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Gabriel, Urias E., Levi J, William Milton, Alpheus Riley, James Acie, Permelia, Cyrenna, Elizabeth Ann and Mary Ellen.  He was the second youngest of the eleven children.  He died on August 8th, 1925 in Mannington, Marion, West Virginia, USA.
