Irmgard was born on 1-Aug-1927 in Essen.  Irmgard's father was Paul Smollich and her mother was Lydia Willuhn.  Her paternal grandparents were Michael Smollich and Emilie Bascheck.  She is the youngest of three children.  She had two sisters named Ruth and Ursula.
