Sh Kawa's father was Sy Omar.  Her paternal grandfather was Sy Ali.  She had four brothers and five sisters, named Sy Hussin, Sy Hassan, Sy Nong, Sy Muhd Rasul, Sh Salme, Sh Juriah, Cik, Sh Azam and Sh Bee.
