Pieter was born on January 25th, 1826 in Amersfoort.1   Pieter's father was Petrus/Pieter Veenendaal and his mother was Johanna Hiltrop.  His paternal grandparents were Jan/Johannes Veenendaal and Barbara Kraan/Craanen; his maternal grandparents were Johannes Hiltrop and Willemina Maas. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Johannes, Arnoldus, Willem, Nicolaas, Barbara, Willemina and Hermina Willemina.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.
