Edde Geerts was born on September 11th, 1832 in Westdongeradeel.  Edde Geerts' father was Geert Jans Damstra and his mother was Renske Eddes Zaturdag.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Geert Damstra and Aafke Wiebes; his maternal grandparents were Edde Hotzes Zaturdag and Grietje Saakes. He had a sister named Geertje Geerts.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 79 on April 24th, 1912 in Oostdongeradeel.1
