John was born in 1772 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England and his christening took place there on November 1st, 1772.  John's father was Thomas Rack and his mother was Mary Farrer.  His paternal grandparents were William Rack and Anne Sommerscales. He had two brothers and a sister, named Willy, Thomas and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died in 1772 in Killingholme, Lincoln, England.
