George was born on October 19th, 1809 in Newton Saint Cyrus, Devonshire, England.  George's father was Mr Franke Parker and his mother was Mrs Gertrude Battishill. He had three brothers and a sister, named Franke, John, William and Mary.  He was the youngest of the five children.
