Mr Franke Parker

    Franke Parker was probably born around 1775, plus or minus a few years. He lived in Newton St. Cyrus in 1800. He was a Gentleman Farmer, and at least part of his income came from a tin mine in which he had some kind of ownership interest. (My Aunt Tow's note says her father had told her he lived atop a coal mine in Newton St. Syms whence came his income (but heres no such village and no coal mine).
    
    On October 16th 1800 he married Gertrude Battishill in the church at Spreyton, a village southwest of Exeter and south of Bow. According to my grandfathers notes as related to Tow, the Battishills lived on there property near Bow since the thirteenth century. Franke died september 12th 1812. Gertrude was alive and living with her daugher, Mary Hainworth in Crediton in 1851. Franke and Gertrude had four sons and one daughter, all born in Newtin St. Cyrus.
