Phyllis was born in March 1918. Phyllis' father was Frances Ada Caroline Broughton and her mother was Leslie Reginald Washer. Her paternal grandparents were John Boughton and Charlotte Beckley; her maternal grandparents were Leslie Theobold Washer and Christiana Varcoe. She is an only child.-
