Douglas was born on May 4th, 1971. Douglas' father is Ian Spencer Crumpton and his mother is Patricia Judith Willis. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Albert Crumpton and his paternal grandmother is Edna Minnie Pedder; his maternal grandfather was Erle Bruce Willis and his maternal grandmother is Gertrude Miriam Blyth Clark. He had two brothers named Bruce Thomas Blyth and Grant Ian. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 37 in 2008.-
