  • Chuck was born in Sandstone township, Pine County. He graduated 8th grade from the Groningen School. He worked on the family farm with his dad until entering the Army in 1954 and served until December 14, 1956. For 3 years he worked in Cloquet at Conwed and also owned and operated Charlie's Standard Station for two years. He worked road construction as a heavy equipment operator for the 49ers for 18 years. He then went to work for the City of Sandstone as the Public Works Supervisor. He also drove the Sandstone royalty float in parades for 23 years. He was a member of the Sandstone American Legion, Grace Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and the 49ers. He enjoyed going to auctions, barbecuing, helping people with anything and everthing, but most important was the time he spent with his family. He died at home with his wife and children by his side.
