    The grim reaper invaded the Charles Gustafson home last week Friday and collected a heavy toll by taking away the main support of the family.  It is a sad case, indeed, as both Mr. & Mrs. Gustafson and their son, Lloyd, were stricken with the dread disease, typhoid, which, it is presumed, they contracted while away on a visit recently.  After a two week siege in bed, the father of the family of six children and still in the prime of his life was forced to forfeit his life.  The community has lost a worthy citizen and the sypathy of all goes out to the stricken family.
    
    In 1888 he came to the U.S. with his parents, who first settled at White Lake, South Dakota and there they resided until 1895, or shortly after the great forest fire which wiped out Hinckley and Sandstone, when they moved to Friesland to take up farming.  Charles found employment in the local quarries, became a switching engineer, and for the past few years has been with the Minnesota Power & Light Co. at the power dam here tending to the plant which supplies the village with light and power.  He has been a resident of Sandstone for 22 years, was know to be a peaceful, industrious, and a well liked citizen.  In 1906 he was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Gydersen to which union tow daughters and four sons were born.  He is survived by his wife and children (Roy, Edna, Helen, Melvin, Lloyd, and Milton Alberto), his mother, who has been making her home with him, and two brothers (Gustaf of Friesland and George, who lives in Honey Creek, Iowa.
    
    Funeral services were held Monday afternon in the Congregational, Rev. Oris Suver officiating.  Internment took place in the local cemetery with the impressive rites of the Odd Fellows, of which he was a member.  The local Lodge membership turned out in a body to pay their last respects to the faithful brother, and many others whose friendship he had won cmae to do him honor.  The saddest part of the burial was the absence of his wife, who with her son Lloyd, are still ill.
