Marie was born on March 30th, 1865.  Marie's father was Johannus Jessen and her mother was Katrina C. Krownberg. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Pete, James, Caroline, Kate, Ellen and Christine.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 49 on January 15th, 1915.

Marie and Jens were married in 1888.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Peter, Joseph and Mary.
