William was born in 1687.  William's father was Christian_V and his mother was Charlotte Amelia.  His paternal grandparents were Frederick_III and Sophia Amelia.  He was the youngest of three children.  He had two brothers named Frederick_IV and Charles.  He died at the age of 18 in 1705.
