Richard was born on January 5th, 1209 in Winchester,Castle,England.  Richard's father was John Lackland and his mother was Isabella of_Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents were Henry_II Curtmantle and Eleanor of_Aquitaine; his maternal grandparents were Aymer of_Angouleme Taillefer and Alice de_Courtenay.  He was the second of five children.  He had a brother and three sisters, named Henry_III, Joan, Isabella and Eleanor.  He died at the age of 63 in 1272 in Newark Castle,Newark,England.  His burial was in Worcester,Cathedral.
