Marie Alexandrovna was born on October 17th, 1853 in St. Petersburg,,,Russia.  Marie Alexandrovna's father was Alexander_II Nicholoevich Romanov and her mother was Marie of_Hesse- Darmstadt.  Her paternal grandparents were Nicholas_I Romanov and Charlotte of_Prussia; her maternal grandparents were Louis_II of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and Wilhelmina of_Baden.  She was the sixth of eight children.  She had six brothers and a sister, named Paul Alexandrovich, Serge Alexandrovich, Alexis, Vladimir, Alexander_III Alexandrovich, Nicholas Alexandrovich and Alexandra Alexandrovna.  She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named George, Olga and Catherine.  She died at the age of 67 on October 25th, 1920 in Zurich,,,Switzerland.
