Anna Elizabeth Wieseler

  • In 1960 Florence Coyle wrote these things down while talking to Anna Wieseler Gaspar.
    My great grandfather Frank Wieseler came from Schleswig-Holstein Germany. He lived in Dubuque, eastern Iowa. They immigrated by wagon with 6 or 7 other families to St Helena Nebraska. On their journey to Nebraska my grandfather Frank was born. The wagon train group wanted to move on, but there was one religious man by the name of Whippen who said no. We will wait until that family can move on with us. They waited 3 days then moved on to Nebraska in their wagons and settled at St Helena where there was a church and water from the river. Some of the names of the families in this journey were Cole and Wippen.
    There were 8 children in my great grandfathers family. Most of them were born and moved along as little children on this journey to Nebraska. There they farmed and never moved any further. Henry Joe, John, Frank, Barney were the boys. There were 3 girls, Mary Nettie, Bernadine. All these are dead and all lived and were buried around St Helena.
    Henry was my mothers Dad. He was born in 1860 and died in 1911. He married Renata Schmidt in St Helena. Renata came to this country from Prussia Germany at the age of 18 along with her 2 brothers Martin and Joe.
    After they married they moved south of Orient South Dakota where they homesteaded and lived in a dirt cave fro 5 or 6 years. The 3 oldest children, Frank Joe, and Anna, were born in this cave. They then bought a 2 room house with a little attic and sat it on this cave.
    They lived in this house 12 or 13 years and 7 more children were born there. Mary (May), Martha, John, Henry, Benny, the twins Martin and Albert. Then they built a new 8 room large home in 1903. Nettie(Renata) and George were born in it.
    May died at the age of 4, she was never healthy. Six months later Henry died of Cholera morbis at age 5 months.
    George died at the age of 21 from tonsillitis and pneumonia while in Nebraska on a trip visiting relatives.
    Martha married Tony Hardis. They homesteaded in Paradise Hill, Sask, Canada. They had 6 children, Benny , Laura, Nettie, Lawerence, Francis, Louie. They all live in Sask Canada. Martha was never too well. She died (drowned?) in 1940 at the age of 48.
    Benny was a dentist? and died of a heart attack at the age of 48.

Renata Margaret Gaspar
Renata Margaret was born on December 13th, 1913.  She died at the age of 46 on December 19th, 1959.

Raymond Joseph Gaspar
Raymond Joseph was born on April 25th, 1915.  He died at the age of 87 on December 12th, 2002 in Dell Rapids, SD.

Isidore Francis Gaspar
Isidore Francis was born on June 8th, 1916.  He died at the age of 28 on February 24th, 1945 in Linnick, Germany.

Leo Vincent Gaspar
Leo Vincent was born on November 10th, 1917.  He died at the age of 89 on November 29th, 2006 in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mary Anna Gaspar
Mary Anna was born on November 30th, 1919.

Magdalen Louise Gaspar
Magdalen Louise was born on September 30th, 1922.

Michael Phillip Gaspar
Michael Phillip was born on November 22nd, 1924.  He died at the age of 76 on November 2nd, 2001.

Florence Agnes Gaspar
Florence Agnes was born on February 14th, 1926.

Harry Gaspar
Harry was born on January 3rd, 1928.

Leona Gaspar
Leona was born on July 22nd, 1929.
