Anna Gertrud was born on February 3rd, 1759 in Dreisbach, Germany.  Anna Gertrud's father was Joannes Helsper and her mother was Anna Maria Helsper.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann Jost Helsper and Eva Maria Heidrich; her maternal grandparents were Joh. Best Helsper and Anna Dorothea. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Joannes, Johann Martin, Anna Maria, Eva, Anna Cath, Eva Maria, Eva and Anna Elisabeth.  She was the youngest of the nine children. She had a half-sister named Cathrin.
