Nicholas Jean was born on October 14th, 1810 in Grousbous, Luxemberg.  Nicholas Jean's father was Nicolas Gaspard and his mother was Marie Elisabeth Neuens.  His paternal grandparents were Theodore Gaspard and Anna Catharina Scholer; his maternal grandfather was Nicolas Neuens and his maternal grandmother is Anne Catherine Majerus.  He had two brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Antoine, Marguerite and Marie.  He died at the age of 79 on December 20th, 1889 in Dubuque, IA.

Nicholas Jean and Catherine were married Religious Marriage on May 13th, 1846 in Grosbous, Luxumberg.  They had six sons and three daughters, named Lampert, Nick, Mike, John, Pete, Unknown, Eve, Theresa and Monica.
