Frens was born in 1751 in Dwingeloo, The Netherlands and his baptism took place there on December 12th, 1751.1   Frens' father was Jan Willems ALBERTS and his mother was Grietjen FRENS.  His paternal grandparents were Willem Hermens ALBERTS and Annegje JANS. He had a brother and three sisters, named Albert, Agnes, Agnes and Marrigien.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
