Francis HOURIGAN 
Francis was born on August 22nd, 1852 in South Elmsley, Ontario, Canada.1 Francis' father was Michael HOURIGAN and his mother was Bridget MALONEY. His paternal grandparents are Jeremiah HOURIGAN and Anne DONELAN. He had a brother and three sisters, named Patrick T., Ann, Mary Ann and Bridget. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 61 on June 6th, 1914 in Smiths Falls, Lanark, Ontario, Canada. He was buried in St Francis de Salle Cemetery.1 General Notes
The Rideau Record, on April 4th, 1901, titled, "Going Northwest" showed , " Francis Hourigan and son, Micheal will leave towards the end of this month for Calgary, Northwest Territory. Mr Hourigan owns a large track of land 12 miles from Calgary and will go into the ranching business. He will take 100 head of cattle with him. the family will not go with him just now, but will follow later.
And later on page 9 it showed.
Auction of Frank Hourigans Farm. Sat. April 13th, 1901. "A large quantity of machinery and farming utensils will be sold. There will also be sold large amounts of real estate including farm properties and town properties. Everything will be sold as the proprietor will be moving to the Northwest. 12:00, by Auctioneer, DC Healy
In the city of Smith Falls, 1901 census, this was found: Ellen McGuiggan, Ellen and Arthur's daughter was living with them.

Elizabeth-Anne (Betty-Anne) Hourigan wrote in 2007:
In the notes that my uncle 'John Arthur Hourigan" made is the following:
"Francis Hourigan, third son of Michael was born in 1853. He farmed in South Elmsley on land adjoining that of his father. He was married to Mary Kenny daughter of Thomas Kenny and Ellen Purcell. They were parents of 6 boys and 4 girls. In 1901 Francis sold out all hsi holdings to move to land he owned near Calgary with his son Michael. It is not clear whether this intention wa carried out as he died in Smith Falls in 1914. However Michael did go west and settled on a farm near Young, Saskatchewan. He married May Agnes Kennedy in Smith Falls in 1907, and Francis born in 1911. Francis enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 9141."
Francis and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on April 24th, 1876 in Oxford.2 They had six sons and four daughters, named Michael Francis, Thomas, Francis John, John James, Thomas Leo, Leonard Joseph, Elenor (Nellie), Bridget Ann (Anna), Mary Teresa and Veronica.

Married at St. Francis de Salle. Witness were Arthur McGuiggan and Ellen Kenny. In this record it noted her mother to be Ellen Purcell, so her mother was probably the witness.

Elenor (Nellie) was born on June 21st, 1878 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.5 She died at the age of 85 in 1963 in Smiths Falls, North Elmsley Twp., Lanark Co., Ont., Can. She was buried in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Smith Falls, Ontario.6 6
Thomas HOURIGAN
Thomas was born on July 10th, 1880 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.7 He died at the age of 1 on June 3rd, 1882 in Smiths Falls, North Elmsley Twp., Lanark Co., Ont., Can. He was buried in Roman catholic Cemetery, SmithFalls, Ontario.8

Francis John was born on July 28th, 1882 in Smith Falls, Ontario.9 He died at the age of 86 on February 20th, 1969 in Carthage, New York, New York, USA.
John James HOURIGAN
John James was born on June 13th, 1884 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.10 He died at the age of 89 in 1973 in Perth, Ont. He was buried in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Smith Falls, Ontario.11
Bridget Ann (Anna) HOURIGAN
Bridget Ann (Anna) was born on March 22nd, 1886 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.6 She died at the age of 83 on November 7th, 1969 in Ottawa, Nepean Twp., Carleton Co., Ont., Can. She was buried in St Francis de Salles Cath. Cemetery.6 6
Mary Teresa HOURIGAN
Mary Teresa was born on March 30th, 1888 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.12 She died at the age of 81 in 1969 in Ottawa. She was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario.8 13
Thomas Leo HOURIGAN
Thomas Leo was born on March 22nd, 1890 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.6 He died at the age of 79 on April 26th, 1969 in Ontario, Canada. He was buried in Roman Catholic Cemetery, Smith Falls, Ontario.6 6
Veronica HOURIGAN
Veronica was born on December 7th, 1892 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.14 She died at the age of 72 on December 19th, 1964. She was buried in Our lady of Visitation, S. Gloucester, Ont..8 15
Leonard Joseph HOURIGAN
