Alfred Peter Blott (known as Peter) was born 6 Aug 1930 at Desborough, a small town near Kettering in Northamptonshire. He was the eldest of the five children of Alfred Edward Blott and Elsie Lane. He attended the local Church of England School. He worked in a shoe factory in Desborough until he had to do his National Service in the army in 1948. Whilst stationed at Seaton Barracks Plymouth he met Sylvia Candace Hoodless. After his demob he stayed in Plymouth and worked for the railway. He married Sylvia on 22 March 1952 at Emmanual Church Plymouth. They had three children, Alan, Wendy and Garry. He later worked for Clarks Shoe Company at a factory in Plymouth. In 1978 was employed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Lartter Day Saints as a custodian at the Plymouth Chapel. He had become a member of the church in Oct 1961. Retired from work on 6th Aug 1995, but continued to do a small part time job. Had a couple of cancer operations 2001/2002 for Penile cancer which successfully removed the disease.
