Jane was born in 1878.  Jane's father is Charles McKay and her mother is Jane Melville.  Her paternal grandparents are Donald McKay and Elizabeth McKay.  She has two brothers and two sisters, named George, Donald, Elizabeth and Maggie.  She is the oldest of the five children.
