Christina was born in 1885.  Christina's father was Alexander Mowat and her mother was Esther Sinclair.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mowat and Barbara MacKay; her maternal grandfather is Charles Sinclair and her maternal grandmother was Mary Fraser.  She had five brothers and seven sisters, named John, Charles, Alexander, David, Andrew, Barbara, Esther, Mary, Janet, Elizabeth, Margaret and Hughina.  She was the twelfth oldest of the thirteen children.
