Jamesina was born in 1891.  Jamesina's father was John MacKay and her mother was Isabella Mowat.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert MacKay and Mary Keith; her maternal grandparents were George Mowat and Isobella Begg.  She had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert, George, Isabella and Mary.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children.  She had a half-sister named Jane.
