Benjamin was born on December 26th, 1919. Benjamin's father was Theodore C. Ashley and his mother was Bessie B. Mitchell (Ashley). His paternal grandparents were Benjamin F. Ashley and Mary J. McFarland (Ashley). He had a brother and two sisters, named Clarence, Mary and Mildred. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 87 on January 31st, 2007.
