Ariaen was born in 1615 in Sprang-Capelle and his baptism took place on November 8th, 1625 in Capelle (Noord Brabant).1   His godfather was Ariaen Hendricxsen and his godmother was Willemeken Claesdr Heynen. Ariaen's father was Frans Franszn Vermeer and his mother was Cunken Ariaensdr.  His paternal grandparents were Frans Vermeer and N.N. N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Frans Franszn, Jan Fransen, Sebastiaen Fransen, Margrietgen and Marytgen.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
