Jan was born in 1697 in Wijk en Aalburg and his baptism took place there on September 15th, 1697.1  Jan's father was Hendrik Janszn Verdoorn and his mother was Magdalena Ariens van der Flier.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Verdoorn and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Arien Laurenszn van der Flier and Maijken Philipsdr Verhaage. He had five sisters named Maria Hendriks, Adriaantje, Jenneke, Adriaantje and Geertruijd.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 69 on January 20th, 1766 in Wijk en Aalburg.1
