Arien was born in 1691 in Gameren and his baptism took place there on July 22nd, 1691.1  Arien's father is Gijsbert Janszn de Swart and his mother is Jenneke Jans de Geus.  His maternal grandfather was Jan Jan Geritszn de Geus and his maternal grandmother is Peterken. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Cornelis, Arien, Johannes, Handersken and Jenneken.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died before 1692.
