Gerrit Janszn was born in April 1632 and his baptism took place on April 9th, 1632 in 's Grevelduin-Capelle.1  Gerrit Janszn's father was Jan Gerritszn de Looper and his mother was Geertruyt Maertensdr Dolck.  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Willems Gerritszn de Looper and Jenneke Joostdr Poets; his maternal grandparents were Maerten Adriaenszn Dolck and Catalijn Jansdr de Jonge. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Maerten Jansen Gerritszn, Arien Janszn, Lysbeth Jansdr, Jenneke Jansdr, Willemken Jansdr, Peeterken Jansdr, Geriken Jansdr and Janneke Jansdr.  He was the oldest of the nine children.
