Peeter was born in 1721 in Loon op Zand and his baptism took place there on October 3rd, 1721.1  Peeter's father was Wouter Goverdszn van der Leij and his mother was Dorothea Petersdr de Rooij. He had a brother and two sisters, named Dirk, Anna and Maria.  He was the oldest of the four children.
