Anna was born in 1814 in Bleiswijk.1  Anna's father was Zweer Kant and her mother was Willempje Dekker.  Her paternal grandparents are Jan Kant and Anneke van der Vin. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Jan, Willem, Goose, Willem, Gerrit, Johanna, Trijntje, Willempje and Willempje.  She is the third oldest of the ten children.
