Janneken was born in 1674 in Capelle (Noord Brabant) and her baptism took place there on September 2nd, 1674.1   Her godmother was Anneken Thonisdr. Janneken's father was Govert Janszn Hoevenaar and her mother was Mayken Teunisdr Melen.  Her paternal grandparents were Jan Govertszn Hovenaers and Maijken Jansdr; her maternal grandparents were Thonis Dirxs Peterszn Meele and Sijtgen Petersdr Cristiaans. She had a brother and a sister, named Teunis and Ariaentje Govertsdr.  She was the youngest of the three children.
