Jan was born in 1727 in Andel and his baptism took place there on July 27th, 1727.1  Jan's father was Aart Janszn van Hemert and his mother was Janneken Bastiaansdr van Vuuren.  His maternal grandparents were Bastiaan Janszn Loijen van Vuuren and Hendrina Pieters van Soeten. He had four sisters named Hendrien, Maaijke, Johanna and Belia.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 86 on April 22nd, 1813 in Zaltbommel.2
