Simon was born on July 7th, 1805 and his baptism took place on July 7th, 1805 in Herpt.1   His godmother was Lijntje Doedijns. Simon's father is Jan van Gammeren and his mother was Johanna Doedijns.  His paternal grandparents are Peter van Gammeren and Aartje van Nederhemert; his maternal grandparents were Simon Sijmenszn Doedijns and Clasina Andriesdr Baijens. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Lambert, David, Clasina and Elisabeth.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 81 on February 2nd, 1887 in Herpt en Bern.2
