David was born on December 18th, 1811 in Herpt.1  David's father is Jan van Gammeren and his mother was Johanna Doedijns.  His paternal grandparents are Peter van Gammeren and Aartje van Nederhemert; his maternal grandparents were Simon Sijmenszn Doedijns and Clasina Andriesdr Baijens. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Lambert, Simon, Clasina and Elisabeth.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 50 on October 31st, 1862 in Herpt en Bern.1
