Harmen was born in 1734 and his baptism took place on August 15th, 1734 in Lochem.1   His godfather was Wibbelt Nieuwenhuijs and his godmother was Anneken Beurink. Harmen's father was Berent Burink and his mother was Jenneken Nieuwenhuijs.  His paternal grandparents were Herman Buijrinc and Anna Craats; his maternal grandparents were Willem Nieuwenhuijs and N.N. N.N.. He had a brother named Berent.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 78 on February 9th, 1812 in Lochem.1
