Arend was born in December 1792 in Arnhem and his baptism took place there on December 2nd, 1792.1  Arend's father was Sebert Buijng and his mother was Maartje Willemsdr N.N.. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Gerrit Jan, Spaan, Dirkje, Catharina, Cornelia, Sibila, Cornelia and Hendrina.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 49 on January 25th, 1842 in Arnhem.1
