Hendrik was born on December 17th, 1791 in Genderen and his baptism took place there on January 1st, 1792.1  Hendrik's father was Jan Branderhorst and his mother was Labina van Wijk.  His paternal grandparents were Blees Branderhorst and Aletta Ariensdr van Doeveren; his maternal grandparents were Gijsbert Antoniszn van Wijk and Aletta Adrianusdr Vos. He had six brothers and a sister, named Blees, Gijsbert, Blees, Alettinus, Adriaen, Antonie and Aletta.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 75 on April 14th, 1867 in Genderen.2
