Herber was born in 1636 and his baptism took place on December 26th, 1636 in Haaften.1  Herber's father is Alert Ghijsbertszn Blomhert and his mother is Meriken Jansdr.  His paternal grandparents are Ghijsbert Stevenszn Blomhert and N.N. N.N.. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Jan, Herbert, Claes, Jan, Jenneken Alertsdr, Heeske, Geertken and Eelken.  He is the third oldest of the nine children.
