Herbert was born in 1639 and his baptism took place on April 2nd, 1639 in Haaften conducted by Reverend Joannis Ribbij.1   His godfather was/is Jan Huijberstzn and his godmothers were/are Lijntken Hendrickx, Echt Adriaensdr. Herbert's father is Alert Ghijsbertszn Blomhert and his mother is Meriken Jansdr.  His paternal grandparents are Ghijsbert Stevenszn Blomhert and N.N. N.N.. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Herber, Jan, Claes, Jan, Jenneken Alertsdr, Heeske, Geertken and Eelken.  He is the fifth oldest of the nine children.
