Edith's father was William Edward Waring and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Maplestone. Her paternal grandparents were Frederick Waring and Sarah Turner; her maternal grandparents were John Richard Maplestone and Betsy Jane Blades. She had two brothers named Billy and James. She was the youngest of the three children. She died at the age of 1 in 1911.
