John was born in 1797 in Broughton.1   John's father was John Frow and his mother was Sarah.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Frow and Mary Linley.  He was an only child.

John and Ann were married in a religious ceremony on March 26th, 1816 in Appleby Church.2   They had three sons and seven daughters, named George, Morris, William, Hannah, Caroline, Dorcas, Ann, Ellen, Mary and Harriet.
