Rebecca was born in 1839.  Rebecca's father was Joshua Betan (Bittan) and her mother was Phoebe Martin (Nunes Martinez).  Her paternal grandparents were Yamin Betan and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Martin (Nunes Martinez) and Rebecca Emanuel. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin, Abraham, Jacob, Samual, Elias, Simha, Solomon, Dinah, Julia, Esther and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 33 in 1872.
