John was born on July 29th, 1802.  John's father was John Farrar and his mother was Hannah Eccles.  His paternal grandfather was Luke Farrar; his maternal grandparents were Stephen Eccles and Sarah Heap. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Abraham Eccles, Luke, Jemima, Mary Ann and Hannah.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 82 on November 19th, 1884.
