Jemima was born on November 24th, 1797.  Jemima's father was John Farrar and her mother was Hannah Eccles.  Her paternal grandfather was Luke Farrar; her maternal grandparents were Stephen Eccles and Sarah Heap. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Abraham Eccles, Luke, John, Mary Ann and Hannah.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
