Thomas was born on December 5th, 1791 in London and his christening took place on January 20th, 1792 in Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London.1 2  Thomas' father was Solomon Turvey and his mother was Ann Willson.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Turvey and Sarah Francis; his maternal grandparents were George Wilson and Margaret Clare. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Joseph, Charles, William, Joseph, Rebecca, Ann, Sarah, Clarissa and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the eleven children.
